Visitor Centre at the Historic Windmill

Welcome to the visitor centre at the Historic Windmill! The centre offers visitors the opportunity to prepare for or round off their visit to Sanssouci Park and Palace.

Tickets, including combination tickets and annual passes, as well as event tickets, are available at the ticket offices.

At the interactive touch table, a model of Sanssouci Park, you can access maps and background information on the various locations in the park. In addition, there is a barrier-free bronze cast model of Sanssouci Park in front of the building, which enables blind and visually impaired people to explore the park tactilely.

The listed building was constructed in 1861/62 as a royal stable based on a design by Ludwig Ferdinand Hesse. In 1935, the horse stalls were removed to make room for events. Since undergoing renovation in line with conservation guidelines in 1993/94, the building has been used as a visitor centre.

As part of the Special Investment Programme 2, the visitor centre will be expanded and supplemented with catering facilities and a larger museum shop. There are plans to reorganise the area between the current centre in the historic stable and the mill house on Maulbeerallee. In the new visitor centre, the service functions – information, ticket sales, museum shop, catering and toilet facilities – will be grouped around a central ‘piazza’.
