Digital accessibility statement

The Prussian Palaces and Gardens Foundation Berlin-Brandenburg (SPSG) endeavours to make the website www.spsg.de accessible in accordance with Directive (EU) 2016/2102 on the accessibility of the websites and mobile applications of public sector bodies and the corresponding national regulations.

The basis for the accessible design is Section 3 of the Ordinance on Accessible Information Technology (Barrierefreien-Informationstechnik-Verordnung, BITV 2.0) and the international standards in accordance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 and the European standard EN 301 549.

When was the accessibility statement created?

This statement was last updated on 10 October 2025. The technical accessibility review was carried out by the Materna agency on 15 July 2025.

How barrier-free is the service (compliance status)?

At the time of writing this statement, this website is not completely accessible and therefore does not yet fully meet the requirements of Section 3 BITV 2.0 and WCAG 2.1 at conformity level AA.

We are working on the necessary processes to continuously improve the SPSG's information regarding digital accessibility.

Which areas are not accessible?

  • Images: Not all images and graphics contain alternative text.
  • Text alternatives: Not all text alternatives fully convey the hierarchies or formatting properties of the respective pages.
  • Text links: Some text links that refer to further content do not contain alternative text (title tags).
  • Video and audio files: Subtitles or transcripts are not available for all video and audio files. Similarly, the preview images of the videos do not contain text alternatives for the content of the respective video.
  • PDF files: Some flyers, forms and PDF documents that are available for viewing and downloading were not created in an accessible format and have not yet been redesigned to be accessible due to capacity reasons.
  • Newsletter: Depending on the email programme used, barriers may occur in the display in email programmes.
  • Map services: The maps integrated on the website via the Open Street Map service may not be sufficiently provided with alternative texts.
  • Graphical controls: The text alternatives for graphical controls are not always meaningful and are therefore not universally accessible.
  • Captcha: The captchas are image-based; there is no non-image-based alternative.
  • Forms: The form fields do not contain any labels, and group labels are also missing for grouped form elements.
  • Contrasts: The minimum contrast requirements are not met across the board.
  • Zoom: Texts are not always displayed optimally when the page is enlarged.
  • Keyboard operability: Not all elements of the website can be operated using a keyboard, and keyboard operability is not optimised everywhere.
  • Control elements: In the mobile version, there are not always sufficient alternatives available for control elements.
  • User preferences: The website is not displayed optimally across the board when custom settings – font size, font type, different text, background and link colours – are used.
