Visitor Centre at the New Palace
Please note
On Tuesday, 14 July 2026, drones will fly over Sanssouci Park and the New Garden from around 5.00 am for a period of three hours.
The drones’ camera systems will be used to assess the health of the trees and shrubs in the parks. The project is being carried out by the SPSG in cooperation with the Institute of Geography, Department of Earth Observation, at Friedrich Schiller University Jena, and is funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). We ask all visitors for their understanding.
Please note
Due to a technical fault, you will not be able to convert your voucher into a personalised annual pass until 21 July. You can still use it for a one-off visit to a castle of your choice.
We apologise for any inconvenience.
Welcome to the visitor centre at the New Palace! The centre offers visitors the opportunity to prepare for or round off their visit to the New Palace and Sanssouci Park.
Tickets, including combination tickets and annual passes, as well as event tickets, are available at the ticket office. The visitor centre also has a museum shop selling books and products related to the palaces and gardens and the history of Prussia. At the rear of the building, Café Caroline invites you to take a break with coffee and snacks. A relaxation room is also available for guests.
At the interactive touch table, a model of Sanssouci Park, plans and background information on the various locations in the park can be accessed. In addition, there is a barrier-free bronze cast model of Sanssouci Park in front of the building, which enables blind and visually impaired people to explore the park tactilely.

The listed south gate building was constructed in 1768/69 according to Carl von Gontard's design as a guardhouse for the New Palace. In the course of its eventful history, parts of the building have served as the Imperial Building Office, as apartments, as office and storage space, and as a laundry, among other things. As part of the Special Investment Programme 1, the building underwent extensive renovation and reopened in 2013 as a visitor centre for the New Palace.
