Paretz Palace and its surrounding village were built by David Gilly from 1797-1804 as a summer residential complex for crown princehref="http://www.spsg.de/index_211_de.html">Friedrich Wilhelm and his wife Luise . They belong to the most significant documentary evidence of Prussian bucolic architecture around 1800.
Besides the royal apartment with its furniture, graphics and the distinctive, original wallpapers for which Paretz is known, further rooms on the main floor of the building may now also be visited since the opening of additional palace interiors on July 21, 2002. The rural visits of the royal couple, Frederick William III and Luise, are presented within the exhibition "Luise's Paretz - A Royal Country Estate Around 1800."
This is complemented by an exhibition in an area comprising the former kitchen extension, which provides insights on the structural restoration process that took place at Paretz Palace from 1999-2002, as well as on the restoration of the above-mentioned Paretz wallpapers and furniture.
