UNESCO Welterbe

Preussische Königsschlösser - Schlösser und Gärten in Berlin

Schloss Charlottenburg

Preussian history in the German capital

The former capital of Brandenburg-Prussia, Berlin boasts royal residences of many different ages - each capable of fascinating visitors in its own unique way.

After the destruction of the second world war Charlottenburg serves as the best example of the courtly life of the period as well as of the artistic tastes of the Hohenzollern family.

Berlin's oldest surviving palace is Grunewald Hunting Lodge, which houses a superb art collection.

Glienicke Palace, which embodies Prince Carl's appreciation and love of Italy, along with the Pfaueninsel (Peacock Island) are part of the area designated by the UNESCO as a World Heritage site.
